Morning Blessings Enters Tau Ceti, Right On Schedule for Inner Systems Tour

September 24, 2397

Melton, Tau Ceti β€” The Musician Early Warning System has detected the Morning Blessings, the private ship of the Christian family bluegrass band The Andersons, transiting the Tau Gate wormhole from Sol.

The Morning Blessings is now being tracked on private Coalition radar, and as of publication, it is 32.359 AU from Melton. Track the Morning Blessings on our ship tracker (Tau Ceti-based networks only). Active radar and ping probes targeted at the ship are showing a lightspeed delay of four hours from Melton radar, which will lessen as the ship approaches Melton.

We project that the Morning Blessings is expected to continue its deceleration burn just before reaching high Melton orbit. A source familiar with Sol–Tau Ceti traffic patterns tells us the ship in question has registered its intent to dock with the Orbital Port of Melton before landing on the Equatorial Sky Harbor of Melton. For an early chance to meet The Andersons, we recommend travelling to the public well-wishers area at the ESHM, which is open from 07:00–29:00 UTC-Melton.

This itinerary is in line with The Andersons's Inner Systems Tour and intent to dock records; the ship is scheduled to dock on October 15, in time for their concert at the Orbital Port on October 16, and the GPE Equatorial Melton Center on October 18.

Morning Blessings Approaching High Melton Orbit

October 13

Melton, Tau Ceti β€” The Morning Blessings is fast approaching high Melton orbit, and is now on an intercept course with the Orbital Port of Melton. Our projections based on our ephemeris measurements of the Morning Blessings lead us to estimate it will dock in about two days.

Melton, Tau Ceti β€” The Andersons arrived at the Orbital Port of Melton right on schedule this October 15. They were greeted by well wishers at port 1-10 as they walked and checked into their hotel. They will emerge tomorrow October 16 for their concert at the Jade Theatre on Deck 3, Quadrant 4, at the Orbital Port.

We are initiating efforts to track down the crew of the Morning Blessings to get a feel for what it's like aboard, and see how much it's deviated from the design schematic for the stock Malvina-class, the type of ship the Morning Blessings is, and we encourage interested parties to subscribe to our RSS feeds to stay updated.

Aboard the Morning Blessings: Crew Deliver Exclusive Peek Inside to Coalition

October 15

Our efforts to track down the crew of the Morning Blessings have paid off, in the form of information for all our readers. A 27 day work journey on a spaceship is typically full of hardship, but working as the band's mechanics, companions, navigators, and assistants is certainly easier than for your typical commercial freight- or passenger-hauling captain.

The Morning Blessings encompasses eight crew and six passengers, obviously The Andersons. Jonas, the father of the family and its "patriarch", served as the pilot, while two other crew acted as backup when it came to navigation. The Andersons can cook and make their beds on their own, so that was never a task for the crew. In fact, the Andersons cooked for the crew, and all 14 souls onboard ate together in peace several times.

The Morning Blessings is piloted by two people at a time; four people, including Jonas and Singleton, rotate and take turns and shifts. Most of the work however is firing the directional thrusters or going from 0.3g to 0.2995g for 1 second to avoid a conjunction with a 1-meter asteroid in six hours, though.

All this information is coming from the ship's tertiary pilot, Emilia Singleton, who has been our best source for the goings-on aboard the Morning Blessings and this article.

Our audience had plenty of questions for us, and Singleton (and her coworkers who asked to stay anonymous), had this to say. Singleton went on too long, so we're paraphrasing and summarizing for the quick juicy bite, but we'll publish raw emails someday for the truly hungry.

"How did the band practice? Did the crew get to listen in?"

The band had a dedicated space in the cargo hold to store their instruments, and it was right next to the practice area, another piece of the cargo hold. This area was also large enough for impromptu shows; plop down some chairs, turn on autopilot, pick an unfortunate crew member to supervise the autopilot but give them a video feed, and you're all set!

Singleton recounted tales of off-duty crew, her included, casually listening to unreleased songs from the band, that "nobody on Melton would be hearing". They were bound to NDAs for that though; and our lawyers are currently looking for loopholes. Our Legal Team is hiring!

"How good of a pilot was Jonas?"

Insufficient data. Since the Morning Blessings was not attacked by pirates, the family never needed to get into their high-G couches, and Singleton never got the chance to observe Jonas do serious maneuvers. Also, Singleton is not a Certified Spaceflight Instructor, so she's not qualified.

"Was Francis dating anyone?"

Singleton said her NDA prohibited all discussion of this.

"Will the crew get to watch the show? I want to talk to them!"

The crew have free tickets to the show at the Jade Theatre, on top of their already generous salary. Singleton has however asked readers to leave her alone; what she's written here is all she'll say. It's general admission; we couldn't publish her seat number even if we wanted to. The other crew however may be receptive, but your mileage and their consent may vary.

"How clean is the Morning Blessings?"

Spotless and clean. The cargo hold has the usual expected dirt, but the bedrooms of all six were squeaky clean. The four children had separate bedrooms, while the mother and father shared a bedroom together. Further details were unfortunately, under Singleton's strict NDA.

In summary, the band is in exceptionally good health, meaning the 25 credits at the door, or 20 credits if you buy them early from the Jade Theatre from their official website, will bring you great entertainment value. The setlist has also been published on the websites of both the band and Jade, for anyone to view. We can't republish them for copyright reasons.

The Andersons deliver stunning performance at Orbital Port of Melton

October 16

The Andersons delivered a stunning performance tonight at the Orbital Port of Melton. The Jade Theatre's seats were full of happy guests and a few Coalition personnel in the mix. The band played 24 songs, held a meet-and-greet, and in the words of our researchers, were a joy to be around.

For the Archives! Concert recordings are expected to become generally available in two days' time. The concert videos are now live on Tau Ceti networks, and the replication traffic is on its way to Sol and the rest of human space. We expect the videos to fully replicate in six hours' time, dependent on the status of the wormhole data links and transmitters. This figure may vary depending on network conditions along the route.

The band's tour schedule will be taking them planetside for the GPE Equatorial Melton Center on October 17. Stargazers, watch your scopes, you might just see the Morning Blessings gleam in the skies above Equatorial Melton.

The Andersons go planetside

October 17

At 02:31 UTC, the band, which seemed to be in high spirits and good energy, made their way from their hotel to the docking bays on the Orbital Port's tram system, onto the Morning Blessings. At 02:51 UTC, the ship left port, alongside a small atmospheric shuttle provided by a local company, and Coalition orbital surveillance watched as The Andersons transferred their cargo and instruments from the Morning Blessings to the smaller shuttle, TR-10495-H. TR-10495-H proceeded to slowly glide through the atmosphere of Melton before coming in for a landing on 27C.

We'll see how the gravity of Melton treats The Andersons as they check into their next hotel and spend time seeing the sights, and dining out in Equatorial Melton; after all, one needs energy for tomorrow's bigger show. And it won't be as crowded as the Jade Theatre this time.

This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, places and incidents either are the product of the author's imagination or are used fictitiously.
